Elections would be held on June 21 to elect four members of the Karnataka Legislative Council from the Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies.
The election is necessitated with the expiry of the term of four members from these four constituencies in the state. The four members whose term expires due to retirement are: P M Nadagouda (Karnataka North-West Graduates’ Constituency), K T Srikante Gowda (Karnataka South Graduates’ Constituency), G K Patil (Karnataka North-West Teachers’ Constituency) and Basavaraj Horatti (Karnataka West Teachers’ Constituency). Their terms expire on June 30.
According to the announcement of elections made by Mysore division regional commissioner M V Jayanthi, who is the Returning Officer for the Karnataka South Graduates’Constituency, candidates intending to contest the election should not be below 30 years of age. Only graduates registered in the electoral rolls of Mysore South Graduates’ Constituency will be eligible for voting.
